The Berlin School of Economics and Law, also known as Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht, HWR in German, was established in 2009 in Berlin, Germany. BSE was founded after the merger of two largest institutions, Berlin School of Economics which was established in 1971 and University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration and Legal Affairs. The main reason behind its foundation was to create an academic discipline in the field of Law and Economics which will be pursued using the applied and practical knowledge for the challenges faced by both, public and private sector. Today, Berlin School of Economics and Law has number of faculties including Faculty of Business and Economics, BPS Berlin Professional School, Faculty of Company-Linked Programs, Faculty of Administration and Law, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Police Training and Management and the Institute for Distance Learning. It also has many sub departments and institutes in all faculties including Institute for Co-operation with Central and Eastern European Countries in Public Reform (IMO), BPS Berlin Professional School, Department of Business and Economics, Department of Cooperative Studies, Department of Public Administration, Department of Legal Studies, Department of Public Administration and Department of Police and Security Management. It offers 50+ wide range of programs at undergraduate, postgraduate and even at the doctoral levels in the fields of Law, Public Administration, Public Policy, Economics, Business Administration, National Security. Not just this, Berlin School of Economics and Law also offers many summer and winter school opportunities for all international students. in addition to this, Berlin School of Economics and Law also provides the training programs and some programs are designed in a way that they help students in passing the state and national level competitive exams in Law and public administration. The research institutes and centers are established under every departments and give freedom to all students to conduct the research study under guidance after approval in the fields of business and economics, social sciences, administrative science, engineering and law as well as security in a way that ensures this knowledge may be put to practical use. Today, Berlin School of Economics and Law has two campuses n Berlin, the main campus is located in Berlin-Schöneberg and it’s a home to the University administration, the Faculty of Business and Economics and the BPS Berlin Professional School and the second campus is located in Berlin-Lichtenberg and it has the Faculty of Company-Linked Programs, Faculty of Administration and Law, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Police Training and Management and the Institute for Distance Learning. There are total 10,000 students enrolled in BSE with the academic staff more than 500 members. The student faculty ratio of the school stands at 1:20. According to the uniRank, Berlin School of Economics and Law is ranked #102 in Germany. It is also among the top 100 Business Schools in the world according to the US Business School Ranking.
