History, Affiliations and Rankings

Berklee college of music was established in 1945 as Schillinger House by Lawrence Berk. The name of the college was changed to Berklee school of music, after Lawrence Berk's son Lee Elliot Berk. In the year 1970, it came to be known as Berklee college of music. 

It is academically affiliated to the Professional Arts Consortium. It is regionally accredited. Other affiliated partners of Berklee college of music are Central conservatory of music in China, Shanghai conservatory of music in China, Tour music fest in Italy, Bass en vivo in Latin America, Latin Grammy Cultural foundation in Latin America and CJ cultural foundation in South Korea

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

There are three campuses of Berklee which are located in Boston, New York City and Valencia, Spain. The first campus of Berklee was established in the city of Boston, Massachusetts. The main campus has Boston conservatory surrounded by performing art organizations such as Boston ballet, Museum of fine arts, Boston Symphony orchestra etc. Berklee Valencia is the international campus of Berklee located in Spain. The Valencia campus has a vast infrastructure complete with an academic area, music technology complex, library and the opera house of the Palau de les Arts. Berklee college of music offers a wide array of courses which consist of music production, music business and management, jazz composition, fine arts in dance, music and theatre, music writing, independent recording, music engineering, music therapy, percussion performance, performance, songwriting and sound design. 

Accomplishments and Alumni 

Since its founding in the year 1945, Berklee college of music has had a long road of History and accomplishments. Berklee is one of the top music colleges in the world, critically acclaimed by Billboard. Berklee alumni hold more than 300 Grammy awards and more than 100 Latin Grammy Awards to their name. In addition to this, Tony awards, Emmy awards, Herbie Hancock institute honors and master musician awards are some of the prestigious awards that have been bestowed upon alumni of Berklee. Berklee has a large and extraordinary list of alumni. Grammy nominated Quincy Jones attended Berklee and has worked in music production with big artists like Michael Jackson. Famous artists such as Charlie Puth, John Mayer, Wyclef Jean, Steven Tyler, Sofia Boutella and St. Vincent are also some of the acclaimed alumni of Berklee college of music.

Berklee College of music Prides itself with its international education, With more than 1,500 international students comprising over 28% of total students. Berklee has 3 worldwide campuses offering a  wide range of international courses enabling students to study worldwide while completing their degree. Many of the professors of Berklee are working professionals in their respective industries. This helps many students in getting jobs. Many-a-times students work hand in hand with their professors and get a taste of the industry while still completing their degree.
