History, Affiliations and Rankings
Founded in 1973 by an agreement between the governments of France and the Republic of Korea. Ajou University started as Ajou Engineering Junior College with the aim of exchanging technology and culture through education between France and the Republic of Korea. Its affiliation is with UNIST, POSTECH, and GIST. Ajou University is ranked #1050 in Best Global Universities. It also ranked 601ā800th in world University Rankings 2022, 201ā300th in Impact Rankings 2021, and 138th in Young University Rankings 2022.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
Ajou University has top-notch educational facilities in a green campus environment. The campus is also close to downtown Seoul, only 40 minutes from the famous Gangnam District. You can experience the Past, Today, and Future of Korea/Asia at the Ajou campus. There is a wide range of international programs at Ajou including student and faculty exchanges, visiting students, international summer school, and Korean language and foundation programs. International students are taking courses offered either in English or Korean by various majors. At Ajou, there are about 1,000 international students from all around the world.

Ajou is striving for research development and has targeted the world's top 100 universities in the long run. As a university in Asia, which is a latecomer, it is working hard to commercialize technology and aims to achieve 20 billion won per year in profits by 2028.
