New Deadline for Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Programs. Originally planned for September 1st, 2024, the deadline to be eligible for a work permit after graduating from a public-private partnership program has been moved up to May 15th, 2024. This means if you start your program on or after May 15th, you won&#8217;t be eligible for a post-graduation work permit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-light-gray-to-cyan-bluish-gray-gradient-background has-background\"><a href=\"https:\/\/leverageedu.com\/learn\/study-abroad-part-time-jobs-for-international-students-in-canada-news-2024-04\/\"><strong>Study Abroad: Part-Time Jobs for International Students in Canada<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-the-change\"><span id=\"why-the-change\">Why the Change?<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Canadian government is aiming to manage student numbers and address housing challenges. They&#8217;re also looking to streamline the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Alternative Work Permit Options:<\/strong> The good news is there are still work permit options available! Even if you graduate from a PPP program after May 15th, you can explore other work permits, especially in fields facing labour shortages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Impact on Specific Areas:<\/strong> This decision is expected to affect Ontario the most, with a potential loss of around 133,000 international students.
