Some people argue that online advertising which uses personal information to target specific people is an invasion of privacy. Others argue that it\u2019s simply an acceptable way to reach consumers with products and services they\u2019re interested in. What\u2019s your take? Do you think targeted advertising is ethical, or is it an invasion of privacy?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jessica: I think targeted advertising is an invasion of privacy. Advertisers shouldn\u2019t be able to track and use our personal information to sell us products. It\u2019s not fair to consumers, and it\u2019s a violation of our rights. Instead, advertisers should focus on creating high-quality ads that appeal to a broad audience.\u00a0 By doing that they can both increase their sales and show respect for their customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mike: I disagree with Jessica. To me, targeted advertising is ethical. It\u2019s a more efficient way to reach consumers with products and services that are relevant to their interests.\u00a0 With the money they save by using more effective marketing techniques, companies can afford to offer lower prices to their customers. Plus, we can always opt out of targeted advertising by adjusting our privacy settings. As long as we get a choice, I think targeted advertising can be beneficial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ans<\/strong>: The ethics of targeted advertising is a complex issue. In my opinion, it is beneficial for both businesses and consumers. Businesses help reach their potential customers by reducing the cost of advertising and increasing its efficiency. For consumers, receiving advertisements that are specific to their interests helps save time and effort in finding products they want. However, if personal data is collected, analysed and used without the consent of the customer, it is an invasion of privacy. This practice leads to a loss of control over personal information and in some cases manipulation. The safety of targeted advertising depends on how personal data is collected. If businesses can ensure transparency, get consent, and safeguard personal data, it is used in ethical ways.
