They provide insights into the historical, cultural and social aspects of our ancestors. They provide a comprehensive understanding of our history, stories of past civilizations that existed, their achievements, struggles and values that they uphold. For example, the Taj Mahal located in Agra is not only known for being a beautiful monument but is also the symbol of love for Mumtaz Mahal. It was made by Emperor Shah Jahan and gives knowledge about the architectural and artistic capabilities of that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Q.2. How do you think historic monuments contribute to a society\u2019s cultural identity?<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Ans.<\/strong> Historic monuments are the reflection of cultural values, beliefs and art of that time. They play a huge significance in maintaining continuity and identity. They are often a source of pride and unity for a country and are part of many cultural celebrations and events. The Statue of Liberty, located in America, is a symbol of freedom and democracy in American society. The same is true for the Red Fort in Chandni Chowk. These monuments stand as a ray of hope and opportunity for immigrants flying here and are the central figure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Q.1 What are some of the challenges you think take place to preserve monuments?<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Ans. <\/strong>One of the major challenges that come with preserving a historic monument is environmental factors such as weathering and pollution, and lack of funds for maintenance and restoration. For example, because of acid rain, there is damage to the marble structure of the Taj Mahal. In addition to these, various human activities such as vandalism and neglect also make it hard to preserve the monuments. In places that are major tourist attractions, managing wear and tear because of constant human interactions is a huge challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Ans.<\/strong> There is a place called The Acropolis in Athens, Greece. It is the best example of a well-preserved monument as despite being thousands of years old, they have maintained their shine and glow. They are carefully preserved with the help of the Greek government and various international organizations. They have undertaken various restoration and preservation work to ensure that all of its structure is intact for future generations to look up to and appreciate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Ans. <\/strong>While tourism helps generate a lot of revenue for the preservation of historic monuments, it also leads to possible wear and tear and in some cases, it also deteriorates the monument. Therefore, governments need to make sure that tourism is managed properly so that these monuments can survive longer. Measures such as limiting visitor numbers and providing a piece of clear information about do\u2019s and don’ts and regular maintenance can help reduce these problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Q.2. Give one example of a historic monument that attracts a lot of tourists.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Ans. <\/strong>The Great Wall of China is a historic monument that attracts millions of tourists every year. It is often regarded as a symbol of the country’s strength, resilience, and historical achievements. It is one of the most architecturally beautiful monuments. It is said that the Great Wall is also visible from space. I am not sure if it is true. However, the wall is an enduring symbol of China’s rich history and architectural prowess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
