In a significant move aimed at simplifying the application process for international students, Canada’s<\/strong> Student Direct Stream (SDS)<\/strong> has modified its requirements for IELTS<\/strong> test-takers applying for study permits. The alteration, announced by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)<\/strong>, means that as of August 10, 2023, applicants through SDS will no longer be obligated to achieve a minimum score of 6.0 bands in each individual section of the IELTS test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead, a cumulative band score of 6.0 will now be sufficient for applicants seeking study permits in Canada. The adjustment underscores a shift towards recognizing the overall English proficiency of the test-takers<\/strong><\/a>, rather than focusing solely on individual section scores.
