On Tuesday the seventh annual Student Visa Day was held by the US mission in India. A rise in visa applications was found. Officers from multiple cities interviewed around 3,500 student visa applicants.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

US Ambassador, Eric Garcetti congratulated visa recipients. The highest numbers of H&L and F1 student visas <\/strong>were issued. Over 1.2 million students visited the US in the year 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officers from New Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai interviewed around 3500 applicants on Tuesday.\u00a0US Ambassador Eric Garcetti congratulated the visa<\/strong> recipients. He recounted his days when he visited India on the occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About 65 per cent of H&L visas and 17.5 per cent of F1 student visas<\/a><\/strong> were issued from India. The US is expecting to process over one million applications in June-August 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Around 21 per cent of Indian students comprise the US population of international students. Additionally, nearly 200,000 Indian students studied in the US in 2021-2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, over 50 per cent of the students in the US are enrolled in graduate courses. The number of students going for undergraduate courses in the US<\/strong> also increased.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the focus is to reduce the wait time for visa processing for tourists. However, the appointment time for in-person visa interviews has decreased by 60 per cent. The time duration has been changed for 20 visa categories.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The US Ambassador Eric Garcetti adds, \u201cI came to India as a young student, and I have personally witnessed the transformative power of these experiences in my own life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the acting Minister Counselor for Consular Affairs, Brendan Mullarkey says, \u201cLast year, a record-breaking 125,000 Indians were issued visas, surpassing the number issued to any other nationality. One out of every five student visas issued last year was granted to Indians. Mullarkey also says, \u201cThis year, we will conduct interviews with more students than ever.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
