The United States and India Educational Foundation offers the Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowship to students already registered in any PhD programme from a government-recognised university to do their research for around 6-9 months at any university in the USA.
It is an initiative to give scholars enriching exposure in the USA from activities related to their fields of education like auditing non-degree courses, conducting research and gaining practical work experience. Generally, candidates are expected to have prior work experience in the relevant field. The selection of the candidates is solely based on merit.
Chevening Scholarship
The Chevening scholarship is sponsored by the Government of the United Kingdom to extraordinary international students to pursue a master’s degree of a one-year duration at any UK university in the subject/field of the student’s preference. Their main aim is to develop the skills of the students. The scholarship will be provided based on merit.

National Overseas Scholarship Scheme
The government of India sponsors the National Overseas Scholarship Scheme as a financial reward to uplift students who belong to the low-income strata of society. It is designed especially for the scheduled tribes, scheduled castes, denotified nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes, landless agricultural labourers, and traditional artisans, by providing financial aid in the form of scholarships for higher education abroad.
Every year approximately 125 new awards are distributed to deserving students subject to the availability of funds. The scholarship is only sponsored for master’s and PhD degrees.

UNESCO and The Great Wall Co-Sponsored Fellowship Programme
The Great Wall programme is sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Education, and the Government of the People’s Republic of China in association with UNESCO to eligible students who belong to developing countries in selected universities of China. The scholarships are only given for graduation post-graduation courses.
This programme aims to impart advanced education and conduct in-depth research in the relevant field of study preference in China for the applicant. The duration of the scholarship is 1 year. It is important to keep in mind that only applications endorsed by the National Commissions for UNESCO will be considered for shortlisting.
