Though the stories vary in each part of the country, the most commonly known story is that Hiranyakashipu an evil king who had the boon of immortality from lord Vishnu which made him believe that he was the strongest, wanted everyone to preach to him instead of god. However, his son Prahalad who was a believer in god denied upon preaching to his dad which made Hiranyakashipu furious. He tried several ways to kill his son like poisoning him, pushing him into the valley, etc but Prahalad remained unscratched due to the blessings of god on him. Magically the fire burned down Holika into ashes and Prahalad came out untouched making the win of good over evil. Later, Hiranyakashipu was killed by lord Vishnu himself taking his boon and evil life away from the goodness of the world giving the world a reason to celebrate the good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Bollywood has never been behind in providing the world with some ever-living melodies. The song was sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar, the best due in the world of melody, In the year 1975.
