Therefore, make sure to follow these rules while changing a singular noun into a plural noun:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1\ufe0f\u20e3:<\/strong> Add <strong>\u2018-es\u2019<\/strong> to singular words ending with<strong> <\/strong>vowels<strong> (a, e, i, o, u) <\/strong>or<strong> \u2018s, x, sh, ch\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Examples<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-stripes\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Singular<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Plural<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Apple<\/td><td>Apples<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Potato<\/td><td>Potatoes<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Gas<\/td><td>Gases<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Axe<\/td><td>Axes<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Wish<\/td><td>Wishes<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Pitch<\/td><td>Pitches<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"exceptions\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Exceptions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some exceptions for adding &#8220;<strong>es<\/strong>:&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Piano &#8211; Pianos<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Photo &#8211; Photos<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Halo &#8211; Halos<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Volcano &#8211; Volcanos\/Volcanoes [Both are correct]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2\ufe0f\u20e3: <\/strong>If a word ends with a <strong>\u2018y\u2019 <\/strong>and<strong> <\/strong>the letter preceding it is also a<strong> <\/strong>consonant, make it plural by replacing <strong>\u2018y\u2019<\/strong> with <strong>\u2018-ies\u2019. <\/strong>But, if the alphabet before the consonant<strong> \u2018y\u2019 <\/strong>is a<strong> vowel, <\/strong>then just add an<strong> \u2018s\u2019 for pluralisation.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Examples<\/strong>: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-stripes\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Singular<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Plural<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>City<\/td><td>Cities<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Spy<\/td><td>Spies<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Daisy<\/td><td>Daisies<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Ray<\/td><td>Rays<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Boy<\/td><td>Boys<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>3\ufe0f\u20e3: In some scenarios, if a noun ends with the consonant <strong>\u2018s\u2019<\/strong> or \u2018<strong>z\u2019, <\/strong>you must double the alphabet <strong>(\u2018s\u2019, \u2018z\u2019)<\/strong> and then add the <strong>\u2018es\u2019<\/strong> to pluralise.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Examples:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-stripes\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Singular<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Plural<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Bus<\/td><td>Busses<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Fez<\/td><td>Fezzes<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>4\ufe0f\u20e3: If the noun is ending with the alphabets \u2018<strong>f <\/strong>or<strong> -ef\u2019<\/strong>, change it with an <strong>\u2018s\u2019<\/strong>.
