However, there are some things which can be created using raw materials. However, you must be careful about the usage of articles. Here are some rules regarding material nouns which should be incorporated into sentences.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background\"><strong>Rule 1:<\/strong> As mentioned above, material nouns are always spoken in singularity and are accompanied by a <strong>singular verb (is\/she\/was)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Silver<\/strong> is my weak point.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Air<\/strong> is polluted.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rice<\/strong> is harvested every year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background\"><strong>Rules 2:<\/strong> Articles like (<strong>a, an, and the<\/strong>) do not come before material nouns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The water is dirty. \u2013 Wrong (\u274c)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Water is dirty \u2013 Right (\u2705)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I like a gold \u2013 Wrong (\u274c)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I like gold \u2013 Right (\u2705)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background\"><strong>Rule 3:<\/strong> Number<strong> (1,2,3, etc.)<\/strong> usage should not be done before these nouns.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>One salt \u2013 Wrong (\u274c)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One bowl of salt \u2013 Right (\u2705)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Four wood \u2013 Wrong (\u274c)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Four logs of wood \u2013 Right (\u2705)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background\"><strong>Rule 4:<\/strong> As mentioned above, material nouns are always considered singular. Hence, <strong>\u2018s\u2019<\/strong> or <strong>\u2018es\u2019<\/strong> cannot be used with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Plastics \u2013 Wrong (\u274c)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plastic \u2013 Right (\u2705)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gold \u2013 Right (\u2705)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Golds \u2013 Wrong (\u274c)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background\"><strong>Rule 5:<\/strong> Quantifiers like <strong>\u2018a lot\u2019<\/strong>, <strong>\u2018some\u2019<\/strong> and <strong>\u2018few\u2019<\/strong> can be used before material nouns when talking about quantity, amounts and degree.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Give me a lot of <strong>rice<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have a few drops of <strong>medicine<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background\"><strong>Rule 6:<\/strong> Whenever a material noun appears at the beginning of the sentence, the first letter is capitalized.
