When direct speech is used, the words are often spoken between quotation marks (\u201c \u201c). We usually use reporting verbs like \u2018say\u2019, \u2018ask\u2019 and \u2018too\u2019 to introduce the reported words. Alex chuckled, agreeing that they seemed to sense who had the most crumbs. Maya jokingly asked if he had any more of his delicious cookies, and Alex, blushing, admitted he had one stashed away for emergencies. He presented it to her, earning a smile and the declaration that this park might just be her favourite place, especially with him in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This dialogue uses both direct and indirect speech to convey the same information while adding different nuances.
