5 Relatable Bollywood Dialogues For Your Study Abroad Journey

Somewhere in life, we all have dreamt of not living an ordinary life. After all, as Ranbir said in Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, “… Life mein thoda tangdi kabab bhi hona chahiye!”  which essentially means life should be happening. That is why instead of enrolling at a home-ground university, you strive hard to cross oceans and land at an international university as an extraordinary student.

The truth is deep down, you may have wished to study abroad and have your Bollywood-ish moment as Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’s SRK. Remember when Jaya Bachan was waiting at the door with a pooja ki thali in hand to welcome back her son from his study abroad journey?

5 Bollywood Dialogues You Can Relate to as an International Student

We all wish to live life like the main character and sometimes indulge in full dialogue baazi. We have compiled some of the best Bollywood dialogues to inspire you to live life like a main character straight out of a movie.

Main Udna Chahta Hoon, Daudna Chahta Hoon, Girna Bhi Chahta Hoon… Bas Rukna Nahi Chahta: YJHD

Translation: I wish to fly, I wish to run, even fall as well… but I refuse to stay still.

Hands down this is one of the most iconic dialogues of recent memory. Ranbir Kapoor aka Bunny has inspired and is still inspiring you to strive harder for what your goals. It is okay if you fail once or twice but giving up will never be a solution.

Success Ke Peeche Mat Bhaago, Kabil Bano. Kamyabi Jhak Marke Peeche Aayegi: 3 Idiots

Translation: Don’t run after success, chase excellence. Success will definitely make its way to you.

In the love language of Baba Ranchor Das to his mates, instead of running aimlessly behind momentarily success, you need to aim for knowledge and then only success will follow you. Now imagine, sitting with your fellow foreign students and flaunting this desi dialogue. Cool right? 3 Idiots has so much more to give you as a movie especially fit for university students.

Tumhare Paas College Hai Toh Mere Paas Knowledge Hai: Golmaal 3

Translation: If you have college, then we possess knowledge.

This movie from the Golmaal franchise can be considered furthest from a Bollywood movie based on students. But, it still gave us this profound dialogue which clearly means that college cannot be the only source of knowledge in the world.

Dost Fail Ho Jaye Toh Dukh Hota Hai, Lekin Dost First Aa Jaye… Toh Zyada Dukh Hota Hai: 3 Idiots

Yet another ironically apt still from 3 Idiots. We could not agree more on this dialogue stressing on the very first human nature between friends. You might feel this for yourself during your study abroad journey when your friend tops the examination while you are struggling. That is what you call the real ‘Dukh Dard Peeda’.

College De Gate Te Iss Taraf Hum Life Ko Nachate Hai, Te Duji Taraf Life Humko Nachaati Hai: Rang De Basanti

Translation: We own the life within the gates of college; while life owns us outside the college premises.

It cannot be wrong to state Rand De Basanti is an all-time great Bollywood movie. If you have not enjoyed this movie as a student then you must be missing out on some good Hindi Cinema content. And do not forget the message hidden in the dialogue on what life looks like for a student. Sometimes we do not value the college life we have till it goes away and the real hustle starts.

Do not forget to take this message with you as a student abroad and if you have not watched it yet then do so. Because these movies should be a must on your list to watch as a student.
