The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is a statutory body and a national-level council for Technical Education which comes under the Department of Higher Education. The AICTE was established in 1945, and it is responsible for the proper planning and coordination of Technical & Management education in India. Swanath Scholarship Scheme Objectives 

The main objective of the scheme is to support and provide encouragement to orphans, children of parents who died due to Covide 19, and children of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces martyred in action, to pursue education. This is an attempt to allow every such student to study and plan a successful future through education in AICTE-approved institutions/colleges and courses.

Swanath Scholarship Scheme Awards 

Students will be awarded INR 50 thousand per year for study, that is, a maximum of 4 years duration for the first-year admitted Degree students and 3 years for the Diploma students. This will include the purchase of computers, stationeries, books, equipment, software etc. If the student is already pursuing a degree and is currently in the 2nd/3rd/4th year the scholarship will be reduced to 3/2/1 year respectively.

For the students studying in the 2nd/3rd year of their Diploma, the scholarship will be reduced to 2nd/3rd year respectively. No other additional benefit will be offered to students for hostel charges and medical charges etc.

Swanath Scholarship Scheme Eligibility Criteria 

There are certain eligibility criteria set by the authority. Every student must adhere to the guidelines. Students must go through the eligibility guidelines mentioned below. 

  • The candidates should be from any one of the following categories: Orphan, Either or Both parents died due to Covid 19 or Children of the Armed Forces martyred in action (Shaheed). 
  • The family income of the students from all sources should not be more than INR 8 Lakh per annum during the financial year of the application. 
  • A valid income certificate must be submitted and issued by the State/UT Government. 
  • The student should not be a recipient of any Central Government/State Government/AICTE Sponsored Scholarships. 
  • The student must study in AICTE-approved institutions/universities and courses at the Degree/Diploma level in regular mode. 

Swanath Scholarship Scheme Application Procedure 

The following are the steps mentioned for the AICTE Swanath Scholarship Scheme application procedure. Candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria can easily apply online. Interested students must go through the steps attentively to understand the application procedure of the Swanath Scholarship Scheme. 

  • The candidates have to visit the online portal, National Scholarship Portal (NSP) after the notice is published by AICTE/NSP on the official website. 
  • On the homepage, the ‘New Registration’ link will appear. Click on the link. 
  • Accept all the declarations and then click on the continue button. 
  • Enter all the personal details such as name, gender, date of birth etc., and click on register. 
  • You will get your registration ID. Login using your credentials. 
  • Click on the AICTE Swanath Scholarship and the scholarship form will appear on the screen. 
  • Enter all the details and submit all the required documents. 
  • Submit the form and your application process is complete. 

If any incomplete information or inauthentic information is given by the candidate, the forms will be rejected immediately. The host institution of the candidate will verify the online application done by the candidate. And as the second level of scrutiny, the Department of Education (DTE) of the respective State/UT will verify all the applications.  

Swanath Scholarship Scheme Selection Criteria

The criteria vary for Degree Level and Diploma Level students. Students are advised to read the selection criteria for them carefully. The selection criteria for AICTE Swanath Scholarship are mentioned below.  

  • For Diploma Level: The candidates will be selected based on the merit of the qualifying examination. In case of a tie, the candidates of elder age and lower income will be ranked higher. 
  • For Degree Level: The candidates will be selected based on the merit of the qualifying examination. This will also include the age and annual family income of the students. In case of a tie between students, a student having a higher percentage of marks will be ranked higher and preferred for the scholarship. Students of older age and a lower annual income will be ranked higher.
  • The reservation criteria will be followed as per the Government of India norms. 

Swanath Scholarship Scheme Required Documents 

The following documents are required at the time of application. Every student must have the documents ready with them before they start applying. The important documents needed are mentioned below. 

For Orphan Candidates 

  • Death Certificates by both father and mother (if available) or a certificate issued by Tehsildar/ S D M as per enclosed format (Annexure-i) 
  • 10+2 equivalent and 10th Mark sheet for degree level. 
  • 10th equivalent mark sheet for Diploma Level. 
  • Category certificate (ST/SC/NCL-OBC) 

For Candidates Who’s Parents Died Due Covid-19 

  • Death certificate of Father/Mother or both clearly mentioning that death happened due to Covid 19 
  • If one parent, Father or Mother is alive, their current year income certificate mentioning that the total income of the family is less than INR 8 Lakh issued by the Competent Authority. 
  • 10+2 equivalent and 10th Mark sheet for degree level. 
  • 10th equivalent mark sheet for Diploma Level. 
  • Category certificate (ST/SC/NCL-OBC)
