Today, I am here to speak about Indian Coast Guard Day, which is celebrated every year on 1st February. This special day reminds us of the brave men and women of the Indian Coast Guard who protect our seas and coastlines day and night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
India has a very long coastline of about 7,516 kilometres. Protecting such a large area is not easy. The Indian Coast Guard was formed in 1978 to keep our seas safe and secure. It works under the Ministry of Defence and plays an important role in guarding India\u2019s maritime borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the main duties of the Indian Coast Guard is saving lives at sea. Whenever fishermen face trouble due to storms, boat accidents, or bad weather, the Coast Guard quickly reaches them. Every year, thousands of lives are saved through search and rescue operations. These brave officers often work in dangerous conditions, strong waves, and heavy rain without caring about their own safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another important work of the Coast Guard is protecting the sea from pollution. If oil spills happen in the sea, it can harm fish and marine life. The Indian Coast Guard takes quick action to control such pollution and protect the marine environment. This shows that they care not only about people but also about nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Indian Coast Guard also stops illegal activities such as smuggling of drugs, weapons, and gold through the sea. By doing this, they help keep our country safe and maintain law and order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Coast Guard uses modern ships, fast boats, helicopters, and aircraft to carry out its duties. They are trained to act quickly and work as a team in all situations. Their discipline and dedication inspire us all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
