I am a student from Lucknow, and I want to bring your attention to a serious danger near our school and colony. There are more than 6 open manholes near Vivekanand School in Shivaji Enclave. These manholes are deep, uncovered, and right beside the footpath where hundreds of children walk daily.

Last month, a 10-year-old boy named Aryan fell into a manhole and broke his arm. There was no warning sign or cover. During morning and afternoon school hours, these manholes are very risky, especially for small children and senior citizens.

According to a recent report by Lucknow Nagar Nigam, over 150 open manholes were found in just 5 areas of the city. Still, no strong action has been taken.

I kindly request you to publish this issue in your newspaper so that officials repair and cover the manholes quickly. Children\u2019s safety must come first.

I am writing to bring focus to a serious problem in Kochi city \u2013 open manholes on busy roads. Roads like MG Road, Kaloor, and Vyttila have many uncovered manholes, and the situation becomes worse during the rainy season.

Last week, during heavy rain, a delivery bike rider fell into an open manhole on Kaloor Junction and had serious leg injuries. According to Kochi Police reports, over 32 accident cases were registered in the last 2 months due to open manholes.

These manholes are not only unsafe but also lead to traffic jams, as vehicles try to avoid them by moving to the wrong side. This causes long queues and road rage.

I request you to raise this issue through your newspaper. The municipal workers must put safety signs and metal covers to prevent further accidents.

I am a resident of Andheri East, Mumbai, and I would like to raise awareness about a health issue that needs urgent attention. In our area, open manholes are filled with dirty water, waste, and insects. These manholes have become major mosquito breeding spots, and many people are falling sick.

As per BMC\u2019s health report for June 2025, there were 1,257 dengue cases and 623 malaria cases reported in Mumbai. Most of these areas had open manholes, clogged drains, and no fumigation.

Two of our neighbours have already been hospitalized this month due to mosquito bites. The bad smell from these manholes also makes it hard to live peacefully, especially during hot and humid days.

We have written to the ward office many times, but there has been no action. I kindly request you to highlight this issue in your newspaper so that health officers and local workers take fast action.
