It shows the power of community when everyone works together for the same cause.<br><br>The World Health Organisation (WHO) established World Blood Donor Day in 2004 to raise awareness about the importance of a healthy blood supply and to honour this selfless act of donors. The date, June 14th, was chosen to honour Karl Landsteiner, the Nobel Prize winner who discovered the ABO blood group system.
