Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to bring the attention of the related authorities towards the increasing rate of road accidents. Nowadays, roads are not-at-all safe. It would be correct to say that they have become death traps.

There are numerous reasons behind the same, reckless driving being one of the major ones. Citizens do rash and reckless driving and put themselves as well as others in harm\u2019s way. The major volume involved in this is of youngsters. Today\u2019s youth has very little patience, they just want to reach their destination as soon as possible irrespective of whether they reach there safely or not. Even if there is plenty of traffic, they drive at high speeds and do quick overtakes rashly. Another reason is the unmaintained road. Plenty of roads out there are unmaintained and full of potholes and undulating stretches. The situation even worsens during the winter and rainy seasons when it becomes difficult to spot undulations and potholes. This results in many accidents.

Through your recognized newspaper, I would like to appeal to the concerned authorities to take necessary actions and make people aware of traffic rules, etc so that the rate of road accidents decreases and our city becomes a safer place for all of us.\u00a0

Even to speed barriers as well as accident-prone area warnings, no attention is given. Another reason adding to the increase in road accidents is an increase in the number of vehicles on the road. People don\u2019t use public transport much and instead take their vehicles everywhere they go. Rash driving, especially by youth, makes driving on the road highly dangerous. These school and college-going youngsters take no account of their actions, they just recklessly drive putting themselves as well as others in the way of danger.\u00a0\u00a0
