  • Central Excise Day is celebrated to commemorate the implementation of the Central Excise and Salt Act enacted on 24 February 1944. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The law was enacted with the primary objective of monitoring the production and regulation of salt and other manufactured goods. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Additionally, the act also included an act related to the excise duties. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Later in the year 1966, the act was renamed as The Central Excise Act 1944. The included rates of the excise duty and other values were included within Schedule 1 and 2 of the act. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Initially, the tax duty was levied on 67 items. However, soon the number was increased to 68 with the addition of terror items. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Moving on, the Central Excise Act of 1944 was amended in 1985 which led to the introduction of a new act called the Central Excise Tariff Act.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
