Independence Day: 15th August 2024<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Independence Day<\/strong><\/a> is a significant national holiday which marks the day that our country got freedom from British rule in the year 1947. This day reminds us of all the sacrifices the men and women of this country took to gain Independence from the Britishers. A lot of people showed courage and selflessness. Parsi New Year: 16 August 2024<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Parsi New Year, which is a regional holiday, is celebrated on the first day of the Zoroastrian calendar\u2019s first month, Farvadin. It is also known as Navroz. It is derived from \u2018nav\u2019 meaning \u2019 new\u2019 and \u2018roz\u2019 meaning \u2018day\u2019 in the Persian language. The Shahenshahi calendar is followed by the Parsi community in India. They celebrate their new year later in July or in August. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raksha Bandhan: 19 August 2024<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The holy occasion of Raksha Bandhan depicts the faith and eternal love between brothers and sisters. Raksha Bandhan is celebrated in the month of Sawan i.e. August and is a cultural festival. On this day, a thread or a Rakhi is tied on the wrist of the brothers by their sisters as a symbol of their bond. And brothers promise to protect their sisters throughout their lives. Both, the brother and the sister exchange sweets with each other, and the sisters pray for their brothers to have a long and healthy life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Janmashtami: 26 August 2024<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On Janmashtami, Lord Krishna\u2019s birthday is celebrated. Janmashtami brings a lot of joy and celebration in all parts of our country. Shree Krishna was born in Mathura, hence, the city of Mathura is decorated beautifully and the festival especially there is celebrated wholeheartedly. Lord Krishna\u2019s favourite food was butter or Makhan, hence, on this day people play a lot of games using the butter. Kids play the game where they break earthen pots to eat butter because Lord Krishna used to do the same. The midnight puja is done when Bal Krishna takes birth in every household. Various sweets are distributed as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
