NCERT Class 8 English Honeydew Chapter 6 \u2018This is Jody\u2019s Fawn\u2019 is a story by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. In this story, Rawlings describes an incident where a boy named Jody saves his father Penny\u2019s life using the liver of a doe. This event burdened Jody and his father with the guilt of taking an innocent life for their personal gain. Furthermore, their guilt heightened when they saw the doe\u2019s son the Fawn.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thus, to reduce their guilt both father and son decided to bring the Fawn home who would otherwise die of starvation. While carrying the Fawn back home from the forest, Jody took many measures to ensure the safety of the fawn. When they reached home, the fawn was reluctant to enter the house because he was startled by the staircase. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the story progresses, we get to know how Jody took care of the Fawn. He tried different ways to feed the Fawn. Firstly, he used to feed milk with his hand but later on, he tried giving milk in gourd. Slowly but surely the Fawn became familiar with Jody and his family and lived in their home happily. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
