It came into effect on 26th January 1950, which we celebrate every year as Republic Day. It was drafted by the Constituent Assembly, which had 299 members, and it took 2 years, 11 months, and 18 days to complete. The main architect of our Constitution was Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, who is also known as the Father of the Indian Constitution.

Our Constitution is the longest written Constitution in the world. As of 2025, it contains 470 Articles divided into 25 Parts and 12 Schedules. It has been amended over 105 times, with the 105th Amendment passed in 2021.

The Constitution provides us with Fundamental Rights, such as the right to equality, freedom, education, and protection of life and liberty. It also lays down our Fundamental Duties, like respecting the national flag and following the Constitution.

One of the most beautiful features of our Constitution is that it declares India as a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, and Democratic Republic. It ensures justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity for all citizens.

The Preamble of the Constitution acts like an introduction and reflects the values and vision of our nation. It begins with the powerful words: “We, the people of India…” — showing that the people are the true rulers in a democracy.

Our Constitution also divides powers among the Legislature, Executive, and Judiciary, making sure no branch becomes too powerful. This separation of powers maintains balance and protects our democracy.

In conclusion, the Constitution of India is not just a book of rules — it is a living document that guides our nation and protects the rights of every Indian. As responsible citizens, we must know about it, follow it, and respect it.

Thank you and Jai Hind!

Also Read: Long Essay on Cryptocurrency for Students

Long Speech on Constitution of India

Hello everyone! Greetings to all. Today we are all here to reflect on our views on the speech on the Constitution of India.

The Constitution of India is the supreme law of India. It comprises a preamble and 470 articles and defines the important political principles of India. It also helps to establish the structure of the government and outlines the powers and duties of different entities within the system. Apart from the above important compositions, the Constitution of India also serves as the fundamental framework for the governance of the country and includes the schedules and amendments that reflect India´s diverse socio-cultural.

Now, shifting our focus to the opening statement of our Constitution, which is called the Preamble, it is essential to acknowledge that it begins with the powerful group of words ¨We, the people of India, and lays the foundation of fundamentals and principles that helps in shaping India´s democracy.¨

The Preamble of India was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949, and came into force on January 26, 1950. It reflects the outlines of aspirations in the Constitution of the United States of America and shares the values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. These shared values not only form the foundations of both countries but also help in building stable and strong democratic institutions.

The journey of constitutional governance began with a Constituent Assembly in India. Under the leadership of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and a group of famous leaders, it took almost three years to shape our constitution. Furthermore, to include the innovative principles of democratic government, separation of powers of representatives, and importantly, protecting the rights of the individual, the leaders of the group looked to the United States for inspiration.

The United States-inspired idea of Federalism distributes power between the federal and the state governments, Indians looked to British customs for consistency and longevity in its provisions. Moreover, adopting the ideas of the Directive Principles of State Policy from the Irish Constitution and the judiciary idea to review the laws of the constitution from the U.S. legal system altogether laid the foundation of an innovative and strong democratic constitution.

Furthermore, an outline of Articles 52 to 62 defines the role of the President in the United States Constitution. Drawing inspiration from the role of the ceremonial head, the Indian Parliament details this in Articles 79 to 122, which include the two houses, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, along with a representative of the President of India.

Talking about the judiciary system mentioned in Articles 124 to 147 ensures the establishment and functioning of the Supreme Court of India. The role of the President, and the process of appointment, resemble the U.S. nomination process for federal judges, which is subject to Senate approval. Moreover, the provision to remove the judges through impeachment in India also reflects the inspiration of U.S. impeachment.

The combination of constitutional elements taken from several legal systems and the thoughtful modification of the sections contributes to the strength and uniqueness of the constitution of India.

Thank you and Jai Hind!

Also Read: Speech on Waste Management for School Students

10 Lines for Speech on Constitution

Let us understand the Speech on the Constitution in short and simple points:

1.
