This special day is celebrated on 20 January every year. It is an important day in which people come together to help, embrace, and support disabled people. This day is also dedicated to highlighting the challenges faced by the disabled. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When talking about history, the first thing that will cross your mind would be who created the International Day of Acceptance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The history of International Day is Acceptance traced back to 2004 when Annie Hopkins created the symbol of Acceptance, i.e. \u2018wheelchair heart symbol\u2019 for a dorm t-shirt. <\/p>\n\n\n

She along with her mother and siblings founded W3Love in 2007. It is an organization that works for disabled people and its symbol became the trademark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Annie Hopkins died on 20 January 2009, but her message still stays with us which states that \u201cA force of nature, Annie refused to accept that her physical limitations should keep her from living the full, exciting, independent life that she wanted.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was on 20 January 2010, that the International Day of Acceptance was created in remembrance of Annie Hopkins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
