When is the National Milk Day celebrated in India?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It is celebrated on 26 November 2023. National Milk Day is an annual event celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr Verghese Kurien. It is celebrated to honour him because he brought the White Revolution and made the dairy industry of India, a self-sustained industry. Due to his contribution, he is also referred to as the \u201cFather of White Revolution.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This day was started by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and the Indian Dairy Association (IDA). The first National Milk Day was celebrated on 26 November 2014. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who was Dr Verghese Kurien?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dr Verghese Kurien was an Indian born on 26 Novemer 1921. He was born in a Syrian Christian family. We regard him as the Father of the White Revolution<\/strong> because he changed the scenario of the dairy industry as he successfully led the world\u2019s extensive project i.e. Operation Flood. One of the famous dairy brands Amul<\/strong> <\/strong>was established by him. As per the statistics, in 1998 India became the largest milk producer in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Varghese Kurien was awarded many awards like Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan. He was also felicitated with the World Food Prize and Krishi Ratna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

National Milk Day Theme 2023<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Every National and International Day is celebrated around a particular theme. But the National Milk Day does not have any theme. It is celebrated in general to spread awareness about the importance of milk, and changes in the dairy industry and people pay tribute to the father of the Milk Revolution in India. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
