Guru Amar Das Ji, the third Sikh Guru and appointed as the successor of Guru Angad Dev Ji. He was born on 5 May 1479 in Basarke village now referred to as Amritsar. He is an important innovator as he introduced the Manji system. He is known to have served the Sikh community for almost 22 years till his last breath. His teachings and life lessons are still inspiring the Sikh community. He became the third Sikh Guru at the age of 73 on 26 March 1552.
