The World Day for Audiovisual Heritage, which is celebrated annually, is observed on the 27th of October<\/strong> every year. This day was selected by UNESCO<\/strong> in 2005 to raise awareness of the importance of preserving audiovisual treasures (films, video recordings, sound etc). In a UNESCO general session in 2005, a proposal to observe a World Day for Audiovisual Heritage was adopted. Finally, on October 27, 2007, the first World Day for Audiovisual Heritage was observed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main goal of the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage is to increase public awareness of the need for immediate action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This day was created to raise awareness of the importance of preserving and protecting priceless audiovisual treasures for future generations. This day also emphasises how crucial it is to keep history intact and make it available to the general people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage Day will be celebrated on 27 October with the theme: \u201cYour Window to the World\u201d. The main significance behind this day is to motivate people to preserve the work of professionals against the range of social, political, technical and financial factors. These factors may pose a threat to the safeguards of audio-visual heritage. Some of these threats could be obsolete technology, lack of attention, chemical decay etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
