CTET Selection Process

Average CTET Exam Passing Rate

We have inculcated the previous year’s passing rate of the CTET exam in the table below. As CTET has a high fail percentage, with only 16-17% of the candidates who successfully pass the exam, you are always advised to start your preparation early with a focused strategy. Here is the table with the number of candidates who appeared, qualified, and the passing rate of the CTET exam in previous sessions:

Session (Paper 1 and Paper 2)

Total Appeared

Total Qualified

Combined Pass Rate

December 2024

17,08,567

2,78,277

16.28%

July 2024

20,86,039

3,66,279

17.55%

August 2023

23,79,882

3,99,815

16.80%

Section-wise Breakdown CTET Paper 1 Analysis (2024 and 2023)

In 2023 and 2024, the overall CTET Paper 1 was generally easy to moderate as per many candidates’ feedback. All of the CTET subjects were easy to moderate, except Mathematics, which stayed Moderate on the difficulty level in both years. Despite many easy questions, cutting scores remain high.

CBSE only requires 60% (90/150) for the general category to pass, but a very few number of candidates successfully were able to qualify the CTET exam with just 16 to 18% of passing rate. Also, many students often flagged Math as the most time-consuming section and Reading Comprehension questions as lengthy.

Section-wise Breakdown CTET Paper 1 Analysis (2024 and 2023)

The CTET paper 2 has 4 sections. In recent years, Child Development & Pedagogy (CDP) in Paper 2 was “Moderate” difficulty in 2023; but eased to “Easy to Moderate” in Dec 2024. Moreover, both Languages (I & II) stayed easy-to-moderate in both years. However, the Math/Science or Social Studies section difficulty level dipped from Moderate to Difficult in 2023 to just moderate in 2024. Hence, you must prepare more rigorously for the Math/Science/Social concepts in the exam, but also, we can expect the upcoming CTET paper 2 exam to be “difficult” to “moderate”.

What to expect for the CTET exam 2026?

We have already discussed the previous year CTET analysis and review, indicating the difficulty level and total questions asked in 2024, 2023, and 2022. Further, CBSE has announced CTET 2026 for Feb 8, 2026. You can expect Paper 1 to be overall easier, with some moderate concepts in mathematics topics. For paper 2, you can expect the Mathematics and Science/ Social Science section of the CTET exam to be slightly difficult than other sections with easy to moderate questions.

For better preparation, you are advised to review last year’s CTET exam analyses and focus on the sections that were trickier and difficult for candidates. For example, mathematics and science often determined the final score. You must also practice time management so you can attempt all questions within the allotted time.

FAQs

Q1. Which is better, B.Ed. or CTET?
We cannot compare the two: B.Ed. or CTET. One is the degree, and the other is the eligibility exam. B.ED is the degree that equips you with the teaching skills to have a career ahead in the teaching industry. ON the other hand, CTET is a mandatory eligibility exam to be a teacher

Q3. Is CTET very difficult??
CTET exam is an easy to moderate exam with some sections a little difficult than the other. With the right preparation and study plan, you can ace the exam with the desired scores. Proper study materials and practice are key.

CTET Application Process

Best Books for CTET Exam: Subject-Wise Books and Tips

50+ Teaching Jobs in Delhi 2023

Basic School Teaching Certificate (BSTC) 2023: Dates, Application, Syllabus

This was all about the “CTET Exam Analysis”. For more such informative blogs, check out our Teaching Exams Section, or you can learn more about us by visiting our Indian exams page.

The CTET 2026 exam is scheduled for February 8, which will be conducted by the Central Board of…

[369,399

0":"post-791516","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-indian-exams","8":"category-teaching

Detailed CTET Exam Analysis: What to Expect for the 2026 CTET Exam! | Leverage Edu Discover

<meta name="description" content="Check previous year CTET exam analysis and review.
