International Day of Rural Women celebrates the contribution of women to rural development<\/strong> and enhancing agricultural productivity. The Majority of the women form the agricultural labour force and contribute to the livestock’s unpaid domestic care. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When is International Day of Rural Women Celebrated?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This special day is celebrated annually on 15 October. The first International Day of Rural Women was celebrated on 15 October 2008. The General Assembly of the United Nations established this day in its resolution 62\/136 of 18 December 2007.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was established to recognize the critical role of rural women and the contribution of rural and indigenous women in developing the rural sector, working in the agricultural industry, improving food security<\/strong> and eliminating poverty in rural areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

International Day of Rural Women 2023 Theme<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Every year, this day is celebrated on a particular theme. The International Day of Rural Women 2023 Theme is \u201cRural Women: Resilience and Recovery in Times of Crisis.\u201d This theme emphasises the importance of rural women at times of crisis like food crises, natural disasters, economic challenges, food security, lack of labour, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
