History of Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The proposal for stadium was submitted in 2003, and then the construction of the stadium began. In 2004, an open auction was held for the name of the stadium, and the stadium was named Visakha International Cricket Stadium.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was later changed to the name of Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in memory of the late Prime Minister Mr Rajiv Gandhi and one end was named in honour of VVS Laxman after his retirement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
