Why Bhai Dooj is Celebrated?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There are no manuscripts that provide the official history<\/a><\/strong> of Bhai Dooj’s inception. On the day that is now known as Diwali, it is thought that Lord Krishna visited his sister Subhadra and was greeted by her by donning a tilak on his forehead after killing the demon Narakasura. Since then, this day has been celebrated as Bhai Dooj. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to another piece of mythology<\/a><\/strong>, Yamaraja, the god of death, paid a visit to his sister Yami on this day. She greeted him with flowers and put tilak on his forehead. The lord of death gave her a gift in return that showed how much he cared for her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Early in the morning, devotees bathe before worshipping Yama, Lord Ganesha, Chitragupta, Yamuna, and the numerous messengers of Yama. Numerous mantras are sung in conjunction with idol worship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After worshipping God, sisters decorate a puja thali for their brothers. A diya is also lit by the sisters to perform the Bhai Dooj rituals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
