Govardhan Puja also known as Annakut Puja or Annakoot Puja is an auspicious festival celebrated by the Hindus. This festival is celebrated the day after Diwali<\/a><\/strong>. During this puja, Govardhan Hill is worshipped. Apart from this, there is also a ritual of offering a variety of food to Lord Krishna on this day. In India, Diwali is a five-day festival in which one day is dedicated to Goverdhan Puja. It is believed that once Indra Dev the “God of rain” got angry with the people of Braj for not worshipping him and due to this started heavy rain in Mathura. This is when Lord Krishna raised the Govardhan Hill on his finger and protected the villagers from the harsh weather conditions created by Indra Dev.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
