The AFCAT is administered twice a year, once in February and again in August or September. The exam must be taken in English. Both the exam and the application process will be conducted online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-latest-update\">Latest Update&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>AFCAT 1 2024 Notification<\/strong> will be made public by the Indian Air Force in<strong> December 2023<\/strong> for the course starting in January 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-is-afcat\">What is AFCAT?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Indian Air Force conducts the Air Force Common Admission Test twice a year to induct officers into the IAF. For those who are shortlisted, the written exam is followed by an interview with the Air Force Selection Board, known as the AFSB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-options-are-available-via-afcat\">What options are available via AFCAT?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All three IAF branches\u2014the flying branch, the technical branch, and the ground duty branch\u2014are open to applications through AFCAT.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The eligibility criteria for different branches vary. For all three branches, both men and women may apply.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Through AFCAT, there is only a Short Service Commission for the Flying Branch. Candidates who clear this stage move on to the next.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-afsb-testing-stage-2\">AFSB Testing Stage 2<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>All Stage 1 qualified applicants will need to show up for AFSB Stage 2 and take the following exams:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Psychological Tests: Written psychological tests that are administered by licenced psychologists.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Group tests: These tests combine mental and physical challenges to assess candidates on a range of cognitive and physical abilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>AFSB Interview: During this round, the interviewing officer meets with the candidate one-on-one.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS) Test: Only applicants who have applied for the Flying Branch are required to take this test.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-afcat-medical-examination\">AFCAT Medical Examination<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Recommendations for candidates will be called in for a medical exam. The Indian Air Force has only approved two medical examination facilities:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME) in New Delhi&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Institute of Aviation Medicine in Bengaluru.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-afcat-1-2024-merit-list\">AFCAT 1 2024 Merit List<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A final merit list would be created based on the candidate&#8217;s performance in the written exam and AFSB interviews after the medical examination.
