Alzheimer\u2019s is the common cause of dementia, which is a general term for a decline in cognitive ability severe enough to interfere with body functioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The key characteristics of Alzheimer\u2019s disease are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Memory loss or difficulty in remembering past incidents.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cognitive decline with difficulty in understanding languages, problem-solving and abstract thinking.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Behavioural and psychological symptoms where an individual becomes agitated, anxious or withdrawn.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Impaired functioning in which a person may struggle with daily activities such as eating, dressing, and bathing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-world-alzheimer-s-day-history\">World Alzheimer\u2019s Day History<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1984 Alzheimer\u2019s Disease International (ADI) was established with its initial objective of <strong>building a network<\/strong> overseas among existing associations and partners, coordinating international activities and sharing information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Before observing World Alzheimer\u2019s Day in 1994, the ADI focused on building connections in underdeveloped and developing nations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In 2005, ADI launched its twin programs \u2013 an approach to enable peer-to-peer exchange of knowledge and experience among participants of the Alzheimer\u2019s Association.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Later on, the STRiDE project was launched.
