National Science Day is celebrated every year on 28 February to commemorate the discovery of the Raman effect made by Indian Physicist Sir CV Raman<\/strong> in 1928. History and Significance of National Science Day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) asked the government of India in 1986 to designate 28 February as National Science Day. On the first National Science Day, the NCSTC announced the institution of National Science Popularization awards to celebrate the outstanding efforts made by students in the field of science and communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day is popularly celebrated in science institutions regardless of their specific streams including medical<\/strong><\/a>, academic and technical<\/strong> universities to collectively support and encourage the spirit of science. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
