The schools under Kendra Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) are under the ambit of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Under this system of Central Government schools, there are 1,248 schools in India while 3 schools are in Moscow, Kathmandu, and Tehran. KVS schools are affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). It has been now more than 50 years since the inception of the Kendra Vidyala program.

About Kendra Vidyalaya 

KV admission for Class 1

Kendra Vidyalayas comes under the supervision of the central government of India. Kendra Vidyalyas are established all over India, to ensure that the children of the employees working for the government of India do not face any hindrance in their education due to their parent’s transfer. All the Kendra Vidyalayas follow the Central Board of Education (CBSE) and are co-ed. Through its holistic curriculum, Kendra Vidyalaya strives for the overall development of the children. Each school follows the same curriculum and provides multilingual education in Hindi and English. The schools are co-educational. Up until class XII, Sanskrit is an optional subject but is taught as a compulsory subject from grades six to eight.

How to Apply for KV Admission Class 1?  

Following are the steps that you need to go through for KV admission class 1:

Step-1: Firstly, go to the official website of KVS and register the name of your child on the admission portal. Since the registration process remains open for 20 days, parents are advised to complete the process as soon as possible.

Step 2: Parents then need to provide all the necessary documents. After that parents need to make sure that the registration has been approved. 

Step 3: Registration details are then sent to the appropriate schools for further processing by the authorities.

Step 4: Before the lottery, the applicants will be required to go to the schools they have applied for and check their names in the application list.

Lottery Result for KV Admission Class 1

Priority in KV admissions is always given to children of central government employees and army personnel who are frequently transferred from one place to another. The students who applied under the RTE Act will be selected based on a lottery system. 

The lottery draw known as the “Draw of Lots” will be conducted by all Kendriya Vidyalaya school administrators to choose the applicants for class 1 admission. A nominated body will be established with the applicant’s parents. 

The draw will be handled by the committee for all categories, including RTE. For the sake of openness, the lottery draw will be broadcast live from each KV school on YouTube. The result will be displayed on the notice board of all the Kendra Vidyalaya schools. Also, a PDF version of the selection list (Merit list) will be uploaded to KV’s official website.

Single Girl Child Quota 

The government of India gives special priority to single girl child during the KVS admission. Single girl child means the parents who have only one girl as their child and she doesn’t have any other siblings. This quota also includes twin sisters. Under the single girl child, quota parents have to submit an affidavit that states that their daughter is a single girl child during admission. 

KV Admission Class 1 2024-25 Category List 

Following are the lists released by Kendra Vidyalaya for different categories:

Category 1: Wards of transferable and non-transferable children of ex-servicemen and central government employees.

Category 2: Wards of transferable and non-transferable employees of public sector undertaking/ autonomous bodies/institutes of higher learning of the Government of India.

Category 3: Wards of transferable and non-transferable employees of state government.

Category 4: Wards of transferable and non-transferable employees of public sector undertakings/autonomous bodies/ institutes of higher education of the state governments.

Category 5: Children from any other category which includes children of foreign nationals who are situated in India because of their work or any other reason. Please note here that wards of foreign countries would only be taken into consideration for admission if there are no children of Indian nationals who are on the waitlist for admission.

Fee Structure for Class 1 in Kendra Vidyalaya

Kendra Vidyalaya provides education at a very low cost and doesn’t even charge an additional fee. The low fee of KVs makes education affordable. The class 1 monthly fee at Kendra Vidyalaya is around INR 500 and students also get a lot of concessions. For 25% of students admitted under the RTE 2009 act, there are no fees. RTE students also get the benefit of refunds based on maximum limits and fund availability for school uniforms, conveyance, NCERT textbooks, notebooks, and other writing materials.
