CGTET Syllabus 

The examination is divided into two sections, Paper 1 and Paper 2. Each paper consists of different subjects and topics. We will discover each subject with the topics it entails. Candidates have to attend two papers.  A table is shown below for easy reference.

CGTET Exam Pattern 2023 

The mode of examination will be followed offline, with pen and paper. The questions asked will be objective type. The candidates will need to answer 150 questions in total which will be for 1 mark each. The total marks for the exam will be 150 marks. As we know the examination will entail two sections, that is, Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates will be given 3 hours in total to complete the exam. The good news is that there will be no negative marking affecting the overall scores due to wrong answers. Candidates are advised to give paper carefully and prepare well. CGTET Application Form

The applications will be submitted on the official portal, which is an online process. Interested candidates can apply for both Primary (1-5) and Upper Primary (6-8) Teachers Posts. Make sure there are no mistakes otherwise the application will be rejected. Any incomplete application will be also marked as invalid. Candidates must recheck and submit it with the required fee. Keep a printout for yourself. 

Steps for filling out the application

  • Visit the official portal and click the link to the online application. 
  • Candidates must select the exam they wish to appear for.
  • Upload scanned photograph and signature. 
  • You can fill in your birthdate and id.
  • Complete the process with fee submission.

CGTET Eligibility Criteria

There are two positions that the candidates can apply for, i.e. Primary and Secondary Teachers positions. Candidates must note that the age requirement for the examination is between 18-35 years. Here are the eligibility criteria for both Lower Primary and Upper Primary teachers. 

Lower Primary

  • 12th passed candidate with 45% marks with 2 Year Diploma in National Teacher Education Council. 
  • 10th passed with 50% marks
  • Candidates with 50% marks in the 12th exam with 4 Year Diploma in Elementary Education or with B.EI.ED Degree can apply easily.

Upper Primary

  • A graduation degree with 2 Years of training in Primary Education.
  • Must have at least 50% marks in 12th standard.
  • B.Ed and Graduation degree with at least 50% marks.

CGTET Selection Process

The selection of the candidates will depend on their scores in the entrance examination (TET). The candidates must clear the final Personal Interview (PI) as well. The candidates who qualify will have 7 years of validity for selection from the date of the result announcement.  

CGTET Counselling Process

Those candidates who have cleared CGTET and have been selected in the PI round are eligible for the counselling process. Candidates must remember to choose a course for which they want to enrol. Candidates must bring all the required documents for the counselling process. The seat allotment numbers may differ from indicative seat availability. If a candidate participated in the first round of the seat allotment process then one cannot sit for the second round. 

FAQs

What are the minimum qualifying percentages in CGTET for general and other categories? 

The General category candidates must have scored at least 60% of marks and OBC/SC/ST/PwD category candidates must have 40% of marks in their CGTET examination for selection. Candidates must make sure to prepare well and clear every round on the first attempt

How many subjects are there in CGTET? 

There are two papers to attempt. Paper one consists of 5 subjects and Paper two of 4 subjects. 

How will be the examination conducted? 

The exam will be conducted offline in pen and paper mode. Candidates will get three hours in total to finish all the answers. Take note of time while giving the examination.
