The second full form of ISI is Indian Statistical Institute. It is a private college located in popular cities of India like Kolkata, West Bengal, Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Tezpur. Professor P.C Mahalanois established the college in Kolkata on 17 December 1931. The institution gained the status of Institution of National Importance by the 1959 Act of Parliament.
