Work Hours lifted for international students to help labor shortage in Canada

On 7 October 2022, Canada announced a new policy to lift the 20-hour per week limit for international students who work off-campus.

Canada has significantly become dependent on temporary residents, that includes a large population of international students, to fill its labor force needs.

Lifting the cap will give students a greater choice of employment opportunities, helping them ot to fall victim to exploitative employers.

International students contribute to our country in so many ways. They enrich our communities, and play a crucial role in growing our economy, said Minister of IRCC, Sean Fraser.

The policy will be in effect from November 15 by the end of 2023 and applies to students studying full time only.
