Study Abroad: Latest Council for International Education announcement from Australia

Council for International Education to help inform policy development for the industry, has welcomed new members. 

According to the Minister of Education, the Albanese Government welcomes overseas students to Australia 

Julian Hill MP will also represent the government on the Council for International Education in addition to Clare

CEO of the International Education Association of Australia, CEO of Universities Australia, and Jane Johnstone, Chief Executive will represent the international education association

The incoming President of the Council of International Students Australia (CISA), who will serve as an ex-officio member, will also participate.

As of October 2022 28% more than at the same time the year before Covid had "reduced in half" the sector.

The backlog of student visas had decreased from more than 130,000 in May 2022 to 30,000 as of December

The new membership includes professionals with experience in international education who will support the sector's leadership. 

Universities welcomed students back to school to build on this momentum and quicken the healing process
