Fiji is home to a huge population of Indians, Diwali is celebrated as people take part by organizing parties, and exchange gifts.

As the Hindu community comprises almost 50 percent of Mauritius' population, Diwali is celebrated with enthusiasm. People have sweets, gifts and light clay oil lamps.

Also known as Hari Diwali, on this day, people start with oil bathing in the morning, and then head to temples to offer prayers.

Since Diwali has a special significance, it’s a public holiday. People light small lamps to ward off evil spirits. It is believed that lights symbolize hope for a brighter future.

Also known as Tihar in Nepal, people celebrate this festival by exchanging gifts, decorating the houses with lights, and offering prayers to Goddess lakshmi.
