TISSNET stands for Tata Institute of Social Sciences – National Entrance Test. It is conducted annually for admissions to several full-time postgraduate programmes like MA, M.Sc, Master of Law and B.Ed – M.Ed integrated courses offered at TISS campuses. It is an online computer-based entrance exam held in 40 different cities across India and is the first round in the admission process. TISS-NET 2021 Eligibility Criteria
Here is the eligibility criteria for the exam:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree of minimum of 3 or 4 years duration or its equivalent from a recognised institution
- Candidates who are in their final year of graduation/post-graduation and have fulfilled the requirements are eligible
- Candidates who fulfil specific programme requirements are also eligible.
- All candidates must be of Indian origin
- No age limitation
Registration Process
Candidates can apply for the TISSNET application online. All candidates can apply for a maximum of three programmes across 2 campuses. Once all the details are filled in and payment of fees is through, candidates can download the application form and later the hall ticket/admit card.

TISSNET Exam Pattern
This is a computer-based test in an MCQ format. The paper consists of 100 questions from three main sections: General Awareness, Mathematics and Logical Reasoning and English Proficiency.

TISSNET Syllabus
The objective of TISSNET is to assess the candidate’s competency and knowledge in terms of English language, logical reasoning and awareness regarding current affairs, socio-political events and development. The syllabus is common to all programmes.
- English Proficiency: The section includes questions related to word choice/sentence correction, odd-one-out, analogies, synonyms and antonyms, grammar, verbal reasoning and comprehension.
- Maths and Logical Reasoning: The section includes questions from basic maths and topics like arithmetic, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, number series, data interpretation and logical reasoning.
- General Awareness: This section includes questions from many topics such as politics, social studies, science & technology, environment, sports, art & culture and Indian history.
TISSNET Result
The results for the test are announced within a few days after the commencement of the exam. Selected candidates are required to appear for TISS-PAT and TISS-MAT. TISS PAT stands for Programme Aptitude Test. It is conducted for a specific programme and the duration of the exam is 45 minutes while TISS MAT stands for Management Aptitude Test and is held only for two programmes: Human Resource Management & Labour Relations and Organisation Development, Change and Leadership. The final selection process entails an Online Personal Interview for every programme and only those candidates who have successfully passed the first two rounds can appear.
