One such exam is the Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP) which is conducted to grant admission in various MBA/MSc courses offered by the Symbiosis International University(SIU). While this test is mandatory to study in 16 institutes under the university, the other colleges don’t need it. SNAP Exam Pattern 2023 Updates

The following points must be noted by the candidates before beginning their SNAP 2023 preparation.

  • It’s an online exam that is computer-based. According to the exam centres that have been assigned by the authority, candidates must take the exam online.
  • SNAP Exam Duration: 60 Minutes
  • There will be a total of 60 questions. Each query will be worth one mark.
  • Exam SNAP is marked negatively. There will be a 1/4 mark (0.25 marks) deduction for each incorrect answer.
  • For questions that are not attempted, there will be no marks and no SNAP Negative Marking.

Eligibility Criteria

To get admission to courses offered by Symbiosis, there are certain mandatory requirements that students have to fulfil. Here are some important prerequisites to keep in mind before going ahead with filling out the application form for the SNAP exam:

  • A bachelor’s degree in any subject from a recognized university or college with at least 50% marks. 
  • The students who are in the final year of bachelor courses can also apply provided they submit their qualifying certificate with a minimum of 50% marks. 
  • The international students have to submit a certificate of equivalence from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) regarding their bachelor’s degree

Note: For some programs like MBA in Infrastructure Development and Management, the eligibility criteria may vary. It is advised to go through the institute’s or the official Symbiosis website to stay updated with the academic requirements. 

SNAP Exam Pattern

As a result of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the exam pattern for SNAP has been revised for the current year. According to the latest notification, the exam will be of a duration of 1 hour i.e. 60 minutes and will consist of 60 multiple choice questions of one mark each. The exam will be held as a computer-based test and each wrong answer will attract a penalty of 25% of the total marks for the particular question. The time and marks allotted for each section of the SNAP 2020 are as follows:

Changes in SNAP Exam Pattern

The SNAP exam pattern and the syllabus are restructured regularly to make the test more student-friendly. This year, there were some changes made in the sections and the number of questions which have been listed below: 

  • This year, only 3 sections will be included in the SNAP exam pattern as the current affairs portion has been omitted. 
  • In the sections of General English and Analytical & Logical Reasoning, there will be no non-MCQ or special questions. 
  • The total number of questions in the exam has been reduced from 130 to 110
  • The internal marking scheme of General English and Analytical & Logical Reasoning will have each question carrying 1.5 marks and in the Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency section, each question will carry 1 mark
  • There will be 5 special questions in the Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency section carrying 2 marks each.

Marking Scheme

With a total of 110 questions, the maximum marks set for the exam are 150. There is a section-wise internal bifurcation of marks that varies from one section to another. Further. there will be negative markings and for every wrong answer, 25% of the mark allotted to a question will be deducted. The syllabus of the exam is specially designed to check whether the potential candidates appearing in the exam possess the right attributes. Final Merit-List Weightage

The candidates will be shortlisted for the subsequent admissions process based on the SNAP 2023 results (GE-PIWAT). For each programme, each institute will have its own admissions procedure. Based on category-wise cutoffs, the merit list and waitlist will be shown on each institute’s official website.
