RRB NTPC Syllabus

The Indian Railways, which is the second-largest Rail network in the world, is also one of the largest employment generating sectors in India. The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), which falls under the purview of the Ministry of Railways conducts various RRB exams to recruit scores of candidates for an array of posts thus providing them with an excellent opportunity to gain experience in various roles and lift their career graph. To hire candidates for the Non-Technical Popular Categories such as Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk, Traffic Assistant, Ticket Clerk, Senior Time Keeper, Commercial Apprentice, Station Master, Goods Guard, etc, RRB NTPC exam is conducted by the board. Exam Pattern 

Before we delve into the RRB NTPC syllabus, it is important to understand the exam pattern properly. Apart from testing the basic general knowldege of the aspirants, the exam also assesses the logical reasoning abilities and mathematical knowledge of the candidates in an efficient manner. Further, having clarity of the pattern helps in preparing for the exam accordingly. The recruitment process of the RRB NTPC examination consists of 2 stages, both of which are Computer Based Test (CBT) and have to be completed in a stipulated time. Let us discuss the exam pattern of both the two stages in further detail. 

CBT Stage 1

The first stage of the RRB NTPC recruitment will be of 90 minutes (120 minutes for PwD) and will consist of multiple-choice questions carrying 1 mark each. The total number of questions is 100 and the RRB NTPC syllabus of this stage is divided into 3 main sections- Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, and General Awareness. While the number of questions asked in the Mathematics and General Intelligence and Reasoning section is 30, the General Awareness section consists of a total of 40 questions. Talking about the negative marking, for every wrong attempt, ⅓ marks shall be deducted.

CBT Stage 2

The candidates who clear the first stage of the RRB NTPC examination are shortlisted for taking the second stage. With 90 minutes (120 minutes for PwD) to complete the paper, the examination has 120 questions divided into three sections, just like that of the first stage of CBT- Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, and General Awareness. Here, the General Awareness portion will carry 50 marks while the rest of the two sections (Mathematics and General Intelligence and reasoning) will carry 35 marks each. Similar to the marking scheme in the previous stage, ⅓ marks shall be deducted for every wrong answer.

RRB NTPC Syllabus
