Under this board, the Railway Department is hiring for a number of positions, such as Railway Recruitment Board-Assistant Loco Pilot (RRB-ALP), Railway Recruitment Board- Non Technical Popular Categories (RRB-NTPC), Railway Recruitment Board-Junior Engineer (RRB-JE) and RRB- Group D.
This board was established in pre-independent India in 1942, but the authorities changed its name from Railway Service Commission to Railway Recruitment Board 1985.
The exam for the RRB ALP post is generally conducted annually across all the states of India with thousands of vacancies.

What is the RRB ALP Exam?
RRB-ALP is an exam conducted by the Railway authorities of India to hire candidates for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot and Technician. This exam was last conducted in 2019, for which the notification was announced in 2018. Around 67,000+ vacancies were announced in that year. Now for 2022, it was expected that the exam will be announced towards the end of 2022, which is sometime soon.
The candidates who are applying for this position are eligible for all the 21 Railway Recruitment Boards. These Railway Recruitment Boards are located in all the major cities of India like: Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai etc. Candidates can opt for any one language from the following 12 different options, i.e. Hindi, English, Kanada, Telugu, Bengali, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Assamese. Konkani, Urdu, and Manpiuri.
RRB ALP Exam Eligibility Criteria
While taking a government exam, the first thing one needs to make sure of is if they are even eligible for that exam. There are many pointers to discuss if someone is eligible for that exam. One of the main criteria is if that person should have the nationality of the country i.e India.

RRB ALP Exam Pattern
The exam pattern of RRB-ALP exam is generally divided into 4 stages, named First Stage CBT, Second Stage CBT, CBAT, and Document Verification.
Stage 1 First Stage CBT
- This stage is Common for ALP and Technician’s Posts. It is just for the qualifying stage, not calculated for merit list.
- There are 75 MCQ type questions of one mark each. Total marks for the test is 75.
- Also, there is negative marking for the test.
Stage 2 Second Stage CBT
- The test is divided into two parts- A and B
- In Part A, there are 100 questions and the duration of the test is 1.5 Hrs. In Part-B, there are 75 questions and the duration is 1 Hr.
- In this stage, Negative Marking is there.
Stage 3 CBAT
- This test is just for candidates applying for Assistant Loco Pilots.
- A candidate can give this exam in both English and Hindi Language
- This test is of 42 marks.
Stage 4 Document Verification
- For both ALP and Technical post, you need to carry the result of Part A of Stage 1 CBT. You also need to carry qualified results of Stage 2 CBT and CBAT.
- You need to carry all the original documents on document verification day. If you fail to, your application is canceled.

Application Process for RRB ALP
Generally, the application process is the same for every government exam. Some of the common steps of the application process are as follows:

Step 2 : On the homepage, there is an apply button. Click on the apply button to proceed with the application.
Step 3 : Fill all the required fields with genuine details.
Step 4: Fill up Part 1 of the Application Form.
Step 5: Next up, pay the Application Fees of the exam.

The general shift hours for RRB ALP are 40-48 hours/week and the shifts are generally, morning, evening and night shifts.
There are approximately 37,000 vacancies for RRB ALP Recruitment in 2022. Further classified, the number of vacancies for RRB ALP is 19,000+ and for RRB Technical Posts are 9500.
