Eligibility Criteria
The following is the eligibility criteria for the New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships:
- Applicants must be a citizen from the Commonwealth Countries.
- At the beginning of your scholarship, applicants must be 18 years of age.
- Aspiring Applicants must also meet the visa criteria for foreign student admission to New Zealand or the country in which you are pursuing the scholarship (i.e. health checks, security approvals, etc.)
- Applicants must have an accreditation degree that will help in improving the quality of your home country.
- They must also commit to relocate to your country for at least 2 years at the end of your scholarship.

How to Apply for the New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships?
Eligible candidates are required to do the following to apply for the New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships
- To request a paper application form, the Candidates must contact the nominating agency in their Commonwealth country.
- Candidates must also request copies of all the relevant academic transcripts. In addition to the application form, they must have class X marksheet, class XII marksheet, bachelor’s degree marksheet, Master’s Degree marksheet and PhD certificate.
Selection Criteria
After the application for New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships has been submitted online, the preliminary shortlisting of candidates is carried out by the MHRD on the criteria of a merit list that grants relative weight to National Significance Institutions/Centrally-Funded Educational Institutions and certified NAAC organisations. Commonwealth Scholarships are awarded to citizens of developed Commonwealth countries. These countries include The Bahamas, Cyprus, Brunei Darussalam, Australia, Canada, Malta and New Zealand. These scholarships are offered for Ph.D. study in the UK.
The applicants will have to fill out an application form to apply for the scholarship. The forms can be downloaded from the official website of MHRD, the MFAT website, and the Sakshat portal.
The scholars will be eligible for receiving airfare for two-way flights from their home country and back. The scholars will get tuition and examination fees exemption. Moreover, these scholars will also receive a living allowance worth GBP 1084 per month. This stipend will be GBP 1330 for students enrolled in the London metropolitan area.
