Namita Thapar was born on 21 March 1977 (44 years) in Pune, Maharashtra, India. She completed her schooling in Pune. Namita completed her chartered accountancy with credentials from the ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India) in India and decided to go abroad for her higher studies. She pursued a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the reputed Duke University– The Fuqua School of Business. She also pursued chartered accountancy with credentials from the ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India).

Before joining Emcure Pharmaceuticals, NamitaThapar worked at Guidant Corporation, USA for 6 years. She joined Emcure Pharmaceuticals as a CFO (Chief Financial Officer) but soon after her responsibilities grew to manage the India Business which is Emcure’s largest business unit and she became the company’s Executive Director.

Ms. Thapar is a recipient of various prestigious corporate awards such as The Economic Times ‘40 under Forty awards, Barclays Hurun Next Gen Leader recognition, Economic Times 2017 Women Ahead List, World Women Leadership Congress Super Achiever award.

Due to her passion for improving women’s mental health in India, she started a YouTube talk show called ‘Unconditional Yourself Namita Thapar’ during the pandemic. The show talks about women’s health and aims to provide authentic information and break stigmas and taboos related to it. It has over 4.5 million views with appearances from top doctors and Bollywood celebrities like Vidya Balan.

Ms. Namita also started Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA), a franchise of the YEA America in Delhi and Mumbai which aims to transform students between the ages of 11 and 18 into real, confident entrepreneurs. She is also the Founder of Incredible Ventures Pvt. Ltd, which is responsible for bringing the YEA franchise to India.

She leads an active and busy life beyond her corporate role. Ms. Thapar serves as a Board Member on the India Regional Advisory Board of Fuqua School of Business, as a trustee on TiE Mumbai Board of Trustees, and is also an active member of the Young Presidents Organisation. She has been a part of various government initiatives such as ‘Women Entrepreneurship Platform’ and ‘Digital Health Task Force’ by NITI Aayog and ‘Champions of Change’ program initiated by PM Narendra Modi for G2B partnership in policymaking.  She has also been a speaker at various prestigious forums such as Harvard Business School, Indian Institute of Management (IIM- A), ET women’s conference, FICCI etc.

Currently, Ms. Namita is also a judge on the Indian version of the globally famous show ‘Shark Tank’, which allows her to invest in up-and-coming startups in India.
