1987 – Chaudhary Charan Singh served as the 5th Prime Minister of India between 28 July 1979 and 14 January 1980. Former Prime Minister of India Chaudhary Charan Singh died on 29 May.

1886- On this day, John Pemberton who was an American pharmacist and Confederate States Army veteran who is best known as the inventor of Coca-Cola begins to advertise Coca-Cola.

1989- In preparation for the 30th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square crackdown on Tuesday, a white statue of a woman has been relocated from a Hong Kong university to Victoria Park, the site of an annual candlelight vigil commemorating the incident.
