IIT Roorkee to Offer MTech in Data Science and AI

IIT Roorkee to offer MTech in Data Science and AI programmes for the 2021-2022 academic session. The college has established the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science which will offer programmes like Masters of Technology in Data Sciences and Masters of Technology in Artificial Intelligence. The launch of these programmes is a great way to create intelligent and knowledgeable candidates well-versed in harnessing the growing potential of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence in contemporary society. The programmes have been created by the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (CAIDS). Before applying for the programs, candidates must register at coap.iitd.ac.in for COAP 2021. 

The objective of CAIDS is to shape the Indian Artificial Intelligence and Data Sciences landscape by promoting these in the areas of academics, workforce development, applied research and training. This multidisciplinary course shall play a significant role in a number of fields – finance, investment banking, business, transport, health, computer science etc. For the commencement of these programmes, 23 faculty members from several different IIT Roorkee departments have decided to join CAIDS as joint faculty members. IIT Roorkee’s plans to offer MTech in Data Science and AI will shape the future of India’s skill development and educational initiatives.

Ajit K Chaturvedi, Director, IIT Roorkee said “AI and DS have established new avenues for research in disciplines and specialisations, in shaping the country’s AI and DS landscape, the Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Center will play a major role in fostering human resources development, research and innovation that lead to business opportunities.”

What is the Eligibility Criteria?

To apply for the IIT Roorkee MTech Programmes for Data Science and AI, a candidate must have a BE/BTech/Integrated MSc or equivalent degree in any engineering science discipline. Candidates need a minimum CGPA of 6.0 in order to be considered for the programme. After clearing the eligibility criteria candidates have to appear for an online interview which will be conducted by the department.
