To appear for this exam, you must be 16 years of age or above and should also possess a valid passport. The exam fee for Indian students is around INR 13,000 which is inclusive of taxes. IELTS Slot Booking Process for Online Mode

• Register and create your profile on any of the IELTS-affiliated institutions like the British Council. 
• Fill out the details required in the form correctly.
• Choose your preferred test center and the exam date. 
• Pay the fee amount using a valid credit card (Master or Visa).
• You will be sent an email that confirms the payment. It will also have the details on how to access the online preparation course for IELTS.
• In case the payment for IELTS slot booking is made through cash or demand draft then the application acknowledgment and copy of the fee receipt have to be sent to the British Council office. 
• You are advised to preserve the email as it might possess vital information that will be necessary later. 

IELTS Slot Booking Process Offline Mode

• Visit the official website and download the application form.
• After taking a printout, fill out the important details carefully. 
• Visit the official website and choose a test date of your convenience. 
• The exam date is confirmed through an email.  
• You need to make the payment either through demand draft or cash in some of the banks recognized by the council. 
• After completing the formalities, you will have to send these documents to the nearest test center.
• If the IELTS slot booking is done through this mode then you must send a copy of the application form along with the fee receipt to the office of the British Council. 
• If the IELTS slot booking is done through courier or post, then you will receive the confirmation mail and the details to access the preparation material within 7 days of receiving the documents.

IELTS Home Testing

Due to the breakdown of Covid-19 and apprehensions around visiting Test Centers, IELTS recently announced home testing to prevent the spread of virus. The test is called ‘IELTS Indicator’ and can be taken on a laptop/computer at home. It uses live test questions marked by examiners. IELTS Slot Booking Rescheduling or Cancellation

• If you cancel the test with 5 weeks of the test date, full test fee will be charged
• Transfer of registration fee will be sanctioned if the applicant manages to produce appropriate medical evidence within 5 days of the test date
• For cancelling or rescheduling, you must fill up the “Request for Postponement or Cancellation” 
• After filling out the form, the candidate will have to send it via post or courier to the following address:

• The form must be sent 5 weeks before IELTS test date
• Any form received after the deadline will be accepted but the registration fee will not be transferred.
